Korellis presents Under the Hard Hat: Jover Garcia

As a right-hand man with Korellis, Jover Garcia has spent the past five years with the company contributing towards environments that are free from harm or hazard. The company has kept him busy and continues to give him an opportunity to learn every day.

Before he got started at Korellis, Garcia faced a lot of uncertainty. It wasn’t until he put the hard hat on that he knew something felt right.

“I didn’t feel like I had a clear future for myself or my family,” Garcia said. “This opportunity changed everything for me. Korellis supported me through my apprenticeship journey. I achieved journeyman status, and now I’m working as a right-hand man. I have much more stability in my life at work, at home, and with my family. I’ve always been a hard worker, but this company has given me the chance to grow and build something long-term.”

Not only has Korellis given Garcia his big break, but it has also held him accountable and pushed him to get better day by day.

“Korellis has always kept me working and supported my growth, and I am very grateful for that,” Garcia said. “Safety is a big priority here, and I really respect that the company takes care of its people.”

While working at Korellis has instilled confidence in Garcia, he gives credit to his teammates and the collaboration between every department to help out not only himself but one another.

“Every project is different, so teamwork is very important,” Garcia said. “Whether it’s in the field, the shop, or the office – everyone is always willing to help and support each other. One thing remains consistent in all of our jobs; we focus on doing the job right, working closely with the crew, and making sure we communicate well with customers. Our goal is always to complete the job the best way possible, so the customer doesn’t have to worry about future issues like leaks.”

As the summer season is fast approaching, Garcia knows that things are going to be busy at Korellis. Nevertheless, he has enough experience under his belt now to be ready to weather this storm.

“The preparation, for me, starts mentally and physically. I tell myself that I need to be ready to give my all during the busy season – whether that means working overtime or weekends when needed,” Garcia said. “I also make sure I stay active, hydrated, and take care of myself physically so I can keep up with the hard labor. I always think to myself, ‘How could I not be ready when my team and my job need me the most?’ That’s why I stay prepared and give my best every chance I get.”

While the entire experience has been highlight-worthy for Garcia, the satisfaction he gets from completing a project in the field and seeing the result is second to none.

“I also take pride in helping train and guide apprentices so they can grow their skills and create better opportunities for themselves. I know from my experience because I was once that person. Working together as a team to complete great projects is something I’m proud of,” Garcia said.

When he hangs up the hard hat for the day, Garcia spends time with his kids and family. Seeing the smiles on their faces when he comes back home is what motivates him to continue getting better every day, especially when they ask him how his day went.

Garcia and Korellis have been a perfect fit for one another, and there is plenty of excitement for what the future holds.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities Korellis has given me. I’m happy with the work I do and appreciate the chance to keep growing within the company.”
