Born on April 21, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, Ribordy carved out his football legacy through determination and excellence, earning his place among the state’s most respected athletes when he was inducted on May 7, 2017, in Merrillville, Indiana.
At Portage High School, Ribordy established himself as a force on the field. A three-year letterman and starter, he earned First Team All-Duneland Athletic Conference honors and served as team captain his senior year. His success continued at Butler University, where Ribordy elevated his game to an even higher level. As a three-year letterman, he became a cornerstone of the program, earning First Team Heartland Collegiate Conference honors in both his junior and senior seasons. Named Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and Lineman of the Year in the conference, he dominated defensively—leading his team in sacks and tackles for loss during his junior campaign and again pacing the team in sacks as a senior. His role as team captain underscored the leadership and respect he commanded among teammates and coaches alike.
Beyond the field, Ribordy’s life reflects the same commitment and stability that defined his playing career. He went on to become a business owner in Valparaiso, Indiana, where he resides with his wife, Kay, and their children, Nick, Luke, and Leah.
From a standout high school athlete to a dominant collegiate defender and respected leader, Mark Ribordy’s career embodies the excellence and character celebrated by the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. His legacy is one of perseverance, leadership, and a lasting impact on Indiana football.
