Horizon Bank Hosts Third Annual Horizon Cares Day

On Tuesday, September 16, Horizon Bank held its third annual Horizon Cares Day, closing all branch locations so Advisors could spend the day giving back in the communities they proudly serve.
“Our Advisors look forward to this day every year,” said Thomas Prame, CEO of Horizon Bank. “Horizon Cares Day is all about supporting the places we call home. We truly believe that when people come together, good things happen—and we’ve been part of these communities for over 150 years.”
Advisors volunteered at food pantries, animal shelters, youth and senior centers, and many other local organizations. In Lake County, Advisors teamed up with Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, helping distribute food, load vehicles, and greet each guest with care.
“As cars pulled up, our volunteers met each person with a smile, a laugh, or a kind word,” Prame shared. “It’s those small moments that make the biggest difference.”
Across Horizon’s Indiana and Michigan footprint, more than 800 Advisors contributed over 2,700 volunteer hours at dozens of organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Porter County in Valparaiso, Feed the Children in Elkhart, the Humane Society of St. Joseph County in Mishawaka, and the Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point—where more than 100 cars lined up for assistance.
“The heart of Horizon Cares Day is about people,” said Prame. “It’s about giving back. Community leaders and volunteers give so much throughout the year, and we’re grateful for the chance to support their efforts, even for a day.”
