Goshen High School Names Griffin Heckaman as Head Football Coach

Goshen Community Schools (GCS) & Goshen High School (GHS) are pleased to announce the hiring of Griffin “Griff” Heckaman as the new Head Football Coach at Goshen High School. In addition to leading the RedHawk football program, Heckaman will also serve as a work-based learning coordinator at Goshen High School.
Heckaman brings a strong background in both coaching and education, along with a commitment to developing student athletes both on and off the field. Most recently, he has served at Warsaw Community Schools as a varsity football assistant and junior varsity offensive coordinator while also teaching mathematics and leading the Edgewood Middle School wrestling program.
During his time in Warsaw, Heckaman worked closely with offensive and defensive linemen, helped coordinate offensive strategy at the junior varsity level, and supported the program’s technological and operational systems, including Hudl and game film review. His experience also includes leading a large wrestling program of more than 50 student-athletes as head coach.
Heckaman earned his degree in Psychological Science from Ball State University and has built a reputation for creating positive classroom environments and fostering strong relationships with students.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Heckaman to Goshen High School and the RedHawk community,” said GCS Superintendent Jim DuBois. “His passion for student development, leadership, and building strong programs aligns with the values we strive to instill in our students every day.”
As head coach, Heckaman is focused on building a program that develops character, teamwork, and leadership while strengthening the connection between the football program and the Goshen community.
“My goal is to help develop young men who will positively impact their communities both during their time in our program and long after they graduate,” Heckaman said. “Goshen has a strong community and school culture, and I’m excited for the opportunity to be part of it.”
A Goshen resident himself, Heckaman is eager to invest in the community and work alongside students, families, and staff to grow the Goshen football program.
