Goodwill Seeking Clothing Donations to Support Community During Challenging Winter

As the holiday season begins and winter weather continues to impact the region, Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. is encouraging community members to share the spirit of giving by donating gently used winter clothing to support neighbors in need and fund critical local programs.

“It’s been a rough winter so far, and the need is high right now—especially with the early cold weather and more Goodwill shoppers than ever,” said Debie Coble, CEO of Goodwill Industries of Michiana. “During this season of giving, a simple act like donating winter clothing can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families across our community.”

Goodwill is seeking winter clothing for men, women, and children, including coats, sweaters, boots, hats, and gloves. Donations of pet clothing and accessories are also welcome, as Goodwill stores feature a dedicated pet section.

Donations made to Goodwill stay local and help fund mission-driven programs that provide opportunity and hope year-round, including workforce development, education, and employment services that empower individuals to achieve economic independence. Goodwill programs have served thousands, including:

  • Nearly 1,000 graduates from The Excel Center®, Goodwill’s adult high school offering a Core 40 diploma
  • More than 650 new mothers through the Nurse-Family Partnership program, supporting families during pregnancy and post-partum

Donations also support sustainability efforts: so far in 2025, Goodwill Industries of Michiana has kept over 20,000 tons of goods in circulation, reducing waste and giving items a second life.

All donations are tax-deductible, and donors receive a tax receipt at the time of donation—making it easy to give back while closing out the year.

Goodwill encourages churches, businesses, schools, and HOA communities to spread holiday cheer by hosting donation drives. The organization can coordinate donation pick-ups for larger collections.
