On August 4, Crossroads Chamber hosted its highly anticipated Annual Golf Outing at Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville—presented by long-time title sponsor Franciscan Health. As a dedicated partner and supporter of the Chamber, Franciscan Health continues to exemplify its commitment to the local business community through consistent advocacy, engagement, and event sponsorship.
Rick Peltier, Executive Director of Franciscan Health Foundation Northern Indiana and a Crossroads Chamber board member, represented the organization at its booth during the event.
“Who doesn’t love a day out of the office?” Peltier said. “This event enables us to come together, network, and enjoy each other’s company. I know more people here than I did last year, and I feel closer with my fellow community leaders out here. That makes me happy. These organizations and individuals are doing great things to improve the community by improving the lives of our friends and neighbors, especially those in need. However, as a chamber community, we can be even more successful than we are on our own.”
Following a delicious breakfast sponsored by BrightStar Care of Lake County, participants—many of them Crossroads Chamber members—hit the course in teams of four for a shotgun start tournament. Indiana Beverage helped players stay refreshed by sponsoring a golf cart that made its way across the course offering cold drinks.
In addition to the tournament itself, the outing featured various green games and special contests, all designed to enhance networking, visibility, and fundraising for the Chamber’s mission. Among the highlights was the 19th Hole Showdown, a poker-style game sponsored by Ty Financial, offering a fun twist on the day’s competition.
“This event is truly for the business members of the community,” said Ty Tornincasa, financial advisor and owner of Ty Financial, who served as the 2025 Golf Outing Committee Chairman for the first time. “Crossroads brings together people from all backgrounds. It’s not just about golf—it’s about connecting, learning, and having fun.”
Several Chamber member organizations participated as hole sponsors, setting up booths with giveaways, branded swag, and company info. Businesses like Beary Landscaping, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, Level 10 Coatings, Purdue Federal Credit Union, and Holistically Well were among the many that engaged with players throughout the day.
Brad Ericks, realtor with Advanced Real Estate and co-sponsor of the bloody mary and mimosa bar, praised the event’s impact. “Crossroads has done a great job getting great people involved. These members donate their time, their resources, and are truly invested in supporting our local community.”
Other fun elements included a putting contest hosted by Schilling IT, a Chamber member of two years. Prizes ranged from RTIC tumblers and wine to golf accessories.
“Crossroads Chamber has a wide footprint and strong presence,” said Mark Schilling, CEO of Schilling IT. “It’s the perfect platform to showcase what we do and support other organizations doing amazing work.”
Chuck Wilk, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Chester Inc., emphasized the unique benefits of this type of networking: “Golf outings are special because they’re relaxed. You run into people you’ve never met or haven’t seen in years. I’ve seen firsthand the value of being part of this Chamber—it’s one of the best in the Region.”
The outing is not only a highlight of the summer but also a key fundraising initiative that enables Crossroads Chamber to continue delivering meaningful programming, business advocacy, and community-building opportunities throughout the year.
