Four Firefighter/EMTs Sworn In to Hobart Fire Department

The Hobart Fire Department officially welcomed four new Firefighter/EMTs during a swearing-in ceremony held this week at Fire Station 1. Chief Enrique Lopez introduced Steven Paprocki, Logan Alcott, Brent Sailsbery, and Jacob Zelasko as the newest members of the department.

“This isn’t just a ceremony-it’s a defining moment,” said Chief Lopez. “These men have chosen a career rooted in courage, compassion, and service. From this point forward, they represent something greater than themselves.”

Lopez emphasized the weight of the badge, the challenges ahead, and the deep sense of pride and purpose that comes with serving the Hobart community. He also acknowledged the families in attendance, noting their critical role in supporting the firefighters behind the scenes.

“Fire service is about teamwork, sacrifice, and unwavering readiness—not just on our best days, but especially on our hardest ones,” Lopez said.

Mayor Josh Huddlestun administered the oath of office, officially inducting the recruits into the department. The event marked the start of their careers as public servants dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of Hobart residents.
