Elkhart County is hitting the national spotlight with the premier episode of a new documentary TV show airing on the Fun Roads TV network.

The first episode of “Kit’s Road Trip America” features the Quilt Gardens, the Heritage Trail audio driving tour, and a variety of Elkhart County’s most attractive outdoor spaces from the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail to Wellfield Botanic Gardens.

The episode is currently airing nationwide in primetime at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time Mondays, 10:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday and 8 p.m. Eastern on Saturdays, as well as 10 a.m. Eastern Sundays and will continue on that schedule into September. Elkhart County CVB staff worked with “Kit’s Road Trip America” producers to spotlight areas in Elkhart County that visitors love most, while highlighting some of the local personalities who support the area. Filming took place over multiple years starting in 2020 and concluded in 2025. The Elkhart County CVB serves as the presenting sponsor of the episode, further boosting the visibility of Elkhart County to the show’s audience.

“My goal in creating the ‘Kit’s Road Trip America’ docu-travel series is to share with viewers untold, authentic stories of diverse communities shaping the ever-evolving American identity and have a lot of fun along the way experiencing different cultures, foods, and outdoor adventures in unfamiliar places,” said Kit Bernardi, the veteran Chicago-based travel journalist who serves as the show’s host.

“It has been a pleasure working with Kit and her crew. We are excited for the national exposure that Elkhart County is getting with this show, especially for the entrepreneurs, small businesses and non-profits who do so much to create beautiful art and provide exceptional experiences. Elkhart County has never looked better on video,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County CVB.

Ashley Gracile, president and CEO of Fun Roads Media, Inc., said, “We air ‘Kit’s Road Trip America’ in prime time because our viewers love tagging along as Kit hits the open road, celebrating America’s character, diversity, and one-of-a-kind charm along the way.”

Currently Fun Roads is on air in over 77 million U.S. television households and a dozen streaming platforms including Amazon Fire, Xumo, Roku, Spectrum, Xfinity cable TV set-top boxes and growing. Fun Roads also broadcasts on over-the-air networks in multiple major U.S. markets such as Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles as well as regional hubs such as Indianapolis, Detroit and Cleveland.

The 28-minute episode includes interviews with Quilt Gardens volunteers and showcases the influence of the Amish in shaping the makers culture in the Elkhart County area.
