Deep River Waterpark makes waves with Back to School Splash Party

Classes may soon be in session, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to hang up those swimsuits just yet! On Saturday, August 2, Deep River Waterpark hosted its Back to School Splash Party, inviting the community for one more evening of summer fun before school resumes in the coming weeks.

“I think the most exciting thing is just letting our customers come in and have a good night with their family and friends before heading back to school next week, when most schools start,” said General Manager Nicole Drexler.

The Back to School event is the grand finale in the waterpark’s lineup of Splash Parties this season, which are themed events held at discounted admission rates. Throughout the summer, Deep River Waterpark welcomed everyone to take a swim after regular park hours for the parties, which included the Birthday Splash Party on July 5 and a Country Western Splash Party on July 19, both drawing in large crowds for after hour fun similar to the Back to School Bash.

“These are events that we’re hosting ourselves. So it’s something that we’re able to do, it is something that is a little bit more affordable for families to come out when they may not be able to come out on a normal and full price admission day. So it’s something to stand out, be a little bit different, offer a cheaper price and let families come together and celebrate,” said Drexler.

Saturday’s event was more than just a celebration of the end of summer. It was also a nod to a major milestone – Deep River Waterpark is celebrating its 30th anniversary this season, marking three decades as one of the Midwest’s largest and most beloved outdoor waterparks. Since opening in 1995, the park has grown into a local landmark, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, thrilling slides, and community-centered events.

The 30th year has been nothing short of “splashtastic” for Deep River Waterpark. The park pulled out all the stops for its anniversary season, offering special promotions, throwback pricing, and more throughout the summer. From longtime regulars to first-time visitors, the celebration has brought people of all ages together for a summer to remember.

“I’m super excited. I’ve been here for a good amount of years, so to be here for a big monument and something big within the park is exciting,” said Drexler.

While the Back to School event was the last Splash Party of the season, Deep River Waterpark will remain open throughout most of August, leaving plenty of time to stop by this summer. The park is open daily from 10 a.m – 5 p.m. everyday through August 17, and will then switch to weekend hours through Labor Day (Monday, September 1), also from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., before the doors close for the summer.
