Currie Motors Ford of Valpo & Valparaiso Lions Club partner to announce $1,000 early bird raffle winner to drive community impact for the visually impaired

Luck was in the air the morning of Thursday, August 6, at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. With hundreds of hopeful participants in the second annual charity car raffle, one local woman was the winner.

When the winner received an unexpected call from Currie Motors Ford of Valpo partner, Lions Club Vice President Joe Arroyo, informing her of the win in the three-part sweepstakes. Thursday’s early bird drawing awarded the winner a $1,000 reward.

Currie Motors Ford of Valpo and the local Lions Club chapter proudly partnered for their second annual charity car raffle. Third prize was $500, second prize, $1,000, and the grand prize, which will be announced October 29, boasts a massive cash prize of $30,000, or an opportunity to drive off the lot in a brand-new Ford Bronco Sport or GMC Terrain.

This partnership and fundraising initiative stands to change the life of one more lucky individual.

The Lions Club global charity has a longstanding reputation. With the help of local chapters’ new fundraising efforts, younger members, and enough community support, this local chapter hopes to surpass last year’s raffle ticket sales and continue raising money for the low-vision community.

The Valparaiso Lions Vision Care Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity whose local history dates back nearly 30 years. The charity services a seven-county area across Northwest Indiana. Their mission statement is to serve, but more specifically, to assist any individual needing eye care, eye exams, or special assistance as a vision-impaired person in Northwest Indiana.

The local club maintains the organization’s core mission, but as the needs of the community continue to evolve, so does the chapter’s commitment to fundraising, which fuels the expansion of the services it provides.

“This is a joint effort between ourselves and Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. The proceeds are going towards the low vision community and the blind,” noted Greg Miller, President of the Valparaiso Lions Club and Valparaiso Lions Vision Care Incorporated.

Only 2,000 tickets are available at $50 per ticket. While the opportunity to support community members who need it most should be incentive enough, $30,000 OR a new car can’t hurt either.
