Crown Point Police Accepting Applications for Officers

The Crown Point Police Department is now accepting applications for police officers.
The application opens on Monday, March 2, and closes at 4 p.m. CST Friday, March 27. Applications can be found on the City of Crown Point website at www.crownpoint.in.gov.
Eligibility
- Previous law enforcement experience not required.
- Must be between 21 and 40 years of age by time of hire.
- Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must meet minimum standards of membership in the 1977 Police Officers Pension and Disability Fund.
Benefits
- Starting pay of $71,065.80
- Lateral transfers are eligible for promotion 90 days after completion of the field training program to $81,218.28
- 12-hour shifts (2-month rotation from days to nights; every other weekend off)
- PERF retirement rate of $93,912.50
- Take home vehicle with off-duty driving privileges in Lake County
- $1,400 annual clothing allowance
- Holiday pay — double time and a half
- Medical insurance/city-paid life insurance
- Beards and tattoos permitted in accordance with department policy
