Crown Point Announces Winter 2025 Events

The City of Crown Point is gearing up for a splendid holiday season filled with family friendly events.
Ice Skating at Bulldog Park
Ice skating returns to the NHL-sized Timothy Grzych Ice Rink at Bulldog Park on Friday, Nov. 28, weather permitting. Starting Nov. 28, all visitors and skaters at Bulldog Park will have to register at a kiosk before skating on the Timothy Grzych Ice Rink. Any skater or visitor during open skate under the age of 18 or not enrolled in high school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All open skate hours are weather permitting and subject to change. For a complete list of hours, please visit crownpoint.info/openskate.

Tree & Tank Lighting
Join Mayor Pete Land and the City of Crown Point for the Tree and Tank Lighting Ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 28.
The Tank Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Goldsborough and Main streets with American Legion Post 20 and the Boy Scouts. A proclamation with be read during the Tank Lighting by Mayor Land. The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin immediately following, around 6:30 p.m., on the east side steps of the historic Lake County Courthouse.
The Tree Lighting features the Crown Point High School Choir and Harmony Handbells. Wittenberg Village will provide hot chocolate and cookies. This free event coincides with the Christmas on the Square Celebration by the Lake Court House Foundation, which features dozens of decorated trees on the Courthouse lawn.

Winter Market
The Winter Market is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Wheeler Middle School, 401 W. Joliet St. A variety of items, such as hand-crafted artisan goods, clothing, jewelry and holiday gifts, will be available at the market. Start your holiday shopping early! Please use the rear parking lot.

Santa Parade
Santa is set to fly into Crown Point at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, for the Santa Parade. He will be flown in by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. The parade begins at Pointe Plaza on North Main Street and ends at the historic Lake County Courthouse.
Following the parade, families can visit Santa and take photos in the lower level of the historic Lake County Courthouse.

Photos with Santa
Snap photos with Santa in the lower level of the historic Lake County Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Square, beginning Saturday, Nov. 29. Santa will be available for photos from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, Dec. 21, and from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23. Please bring a camera.

Tour of Lights
The Crown Point Tour of Lights will be from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 12-13, and 5-7 p.m. Dec. 15-18. Each tour begins with a holiday story time hosted by the Crown Point Community Library, which lasts about 30 minutes. Each guided trolley ride lasts about an hour. All festivities are held at the Crown Point Community Library, 122 N. Main St.
Registration is required by visiting www.crownpoint.in.gov. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited to 10 people per party. Space is limited! Reservations open Monday, Dec. 1.

Wreaths Across America
The Julia Watkins Brass Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the City of Crown Point will honor fallen heroes by placing wreaths on their graves at the Historic Maplewood and Maplewood Memorial cemeteries during the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at noon Saturday, Dec. 13. A brief ceremony will be held at Solon Robinson Elementary School prior to the wreath laying.

Kid’s New Year’s Eve Party
Ring in 2026 with the City of Crown Point! Close out 2025 at Bulldog Park with fun festivities! This year’s Kid’s New Year’s Eve Party will feature a countdown; magician; balloon artist; face painter; and DJ. While there is not a fee for this year’s event, admission to the Timothy Grzych Ice Rink at Bulldog Park is $5. Magic shows require free pre-registration the day of the event. Shows will be held at 12:30 p.m.; 1:15 p.m.; 2 p.m.; and 2:45 p.m.

New Year’s Eve Ball Drop
Ring in 2026 in The Hub! Join the City of Crown Point at our Ball Drop downtown from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 31 at Clark and Main streets. This family friendly event will feature a countdown, DJ, fireworks, beer garden and more!
