Deann Patena, IOM, CEO and President of Crossroads Northwest Indiana Chamber, has completed the Institute for Organization Management (IOM) professional development program, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s premier education program for nonprofit, association, and chamber executives.
The IOM program, established in 1921, is one of the oldest and most respected nonprofit management education programs in the nation. Its rigorous, four-year curriculum equips leaders with skills in advocacy, membership development, finance, legal issues, human resources, and more. Participants complete 96 credit hours of instruction, engaging in discussions and hands-on learning that strengthen their organizations and communities.
“Completing the IOM program has given me new strategies and insights to grow Crossroads Chamber and better serve our members,” Patena said. “From innovative membership programs to more effective advocacy for Northwest Indiana businesses, this experience strengthens our ability to support economic growth in the region.”
Patena’s achievement positions Crossroads Chamber to expand professional development opportunities for members, enhance community partnerships, and lead initiatives that drive regional business success. With her new expertise, the Chamber is better equipped to navigate challenges facing local businesses, provide guidance on nonprofit best practices, and champion policies that benefit the Northwest Indiana business community.
“The knowledge and skills gained through IOM will allow us to continue evolving as a resource for businesses across Northwest Indiana,” Patena added. “This accomplishment reflects our commitment to excellence and to creating a stronger, more connected business community.”
