Centier Bank, Indiana’s largest private, family-owned and operated bank, is proud to announce Mike Schrage, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, has been named for the third consecutive year to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Indiana 250, a recognition of the most influential business leaders in Indiana. The Indiana 250 is published by IBJ Media, the parent company of three news brands including Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside INdiana Business and Indiana Lawyer and recognizes the most influential leaders across Indiana’s business, philanthropy, government, arts and non-profit sectors.
“It is a privilege to once again be recognized among so many inspiring leaders who make a positive impact across Indiana,” Schrage said. “This list showcases the wide variety of organizations and leaders shaping a bright future for our state, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.”
Mike Schrage joined the bank, originally named Bank of Whiting, in 1972, was named its fourth president in 1977, and was elected chairman of the board in 1982. With more than 50 years of banking experience under his belt, he represents the fourth generation of family ownership, and is proud to continue the Schrage family’s promise and commitment that Centier Bank will remain a private family-owned and operated bank or generations to come.
Under Schrage’s leadership, the bank has grown from just a handful of branches in Lake County to more than 60 locations across Indiana, with assets nearing $10 billion. Centier Bank has been named among Indiana’s Best Places to Work annually since 2007 and is a member of the Indiana Chamber’s Hall of Fame. Additionally, Centier has landed on American Banker Magazine’s Best Banks to Work For list every year since 2012. Schrage also proudly serves on several banking and non-profit associations and is a leading sponsor for the American Heart Association in Northwest Indiana.
This recognition is among many for Schrage and Centier Bank. Earlier this year, Centier Bank was ranked #1 Retail Bank in Customer Satisfaction in the North Central Region of the U.S. in J.D. Power’s 2025 study. The complete 2025 Indiana 250 list is available on the IBJ Media Indiana 250 website at www.indiana250.com.
