Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana announces new Board leadership for 2026

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana (BGCGNWI) is pleased to announce that Paul Dawning has been elected as Chair of its Board of Directors for a two-year term, and Joe Stupka has been newly appointed to the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2026. Dawning succeeds Rene Martin, who served as Chair for the past two years and now assumes the role of Immediate Past Chair.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have such dynamic leaders like Paul and Joe guiding our mission into the new year,” said Mike Jessen, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. “Paul’s deep community roots and strategic vision make him the ideal successor to build upon the tremendous foundation laid by Rene. Our board is well-positioned to open more doors of opportunity for the thousands of youth and families who rely on our Clubs every day.”

Dawning, a State Farm agent for the past 26 years, brings decades of local expertise and a proven dedication to youth advocacy. He has served on the BGCGNWI board since 2011. His passion for supporting our region’s children and commitment to community will provide the strategic insights and leadership that will help BGCGNWI continue to fulfill its mission of empowering youth to realize their full potential.

Joe Stupka joins the board while serving as Chief Retail Officer at Strack & Van Til. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Stupka was drawn to the organization by the direct difference the Clubs make in the lives of the region’s children.

“What truly inspired me to serve on the Boys & Girls Club board is the kids,” Stupka shared. “The opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children who need support, guidance, and encouragement is incredibly meaningful to me. Knowing that this work can help shape their futures and provide opportunities they might not otherwise have is what drives my commitment.”

The BGCGNWI Board of Directors provides critical oversight and strategic direction for the organization’s 9 Clubs and 11 Kidstop locations across Lake and Porter counties.
