It was such a special night for Portage gymnastics. We were thankful to host Valparaiso for our “Fight for a Cure” meet!
Tonight’s meet was dedicated to our former Portage gymnast, Aubrey Konchar. Aubrey, a member of the class of 2026, was a shining light. Her beautiful spirit and contagious positive energy were true gifts. During her freshman year at Portage, she was diagnosed with pediatric adrenocortical carcinoma. We wore green tonight as the Portage Gymnastics family remembered our fallen Indian. We welcomed Aubrey’s family and thanked them for joining us tonight. We are committed to keeping her legacy as a part of our program!
We (Portage snd Valparaiso) are wearing purple ribbons in honor of Rylee Robb. Rylee is a 13 year old level 9 gymnast originally from Portage, who lives in Valparaiso. Rylee has been teammates with numerous high school gymnasts throughout the DAC, including Valparaiso and Portage. Rylee was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August and is going through chemotherapy. Rylee chose to donate her hair early in her process to other chemo patients. We wore purple bows in our hair to show our unwavering love and support for the fight against cancer. We so look forward to her recovery and watching her return to this sport she loves so much! Thank you to Rylee and her family for joining us tonight.
