This multi-artist lineup features legendary acts Changing Faces, Surface, The Force M.D.s, Men of Vizion, and the Rude Boys—platinum-selling performers and chart-topping groups whose music dominated radio and dance floors throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. From smooth ballads to New Jack Swing anthems, these artists helped shape the sound of modern R&B, delivering unforgettable hits, timeless harmonies, and songs that still resonate today.
Featuring artists behind multiple #1 R&B singles, platinum albums, and crossover Billboard Hot 100 hits, this concert is a celebration of the golden age of R&B—performed live by the voices that made it iconic.
Changing Faces
Platinum-selling R&B duo Changing Faces became one of the defining female voices of the 1990s. Discovered singing on the streets of New York, Cassandra Lucas and Charisse Rose rose to fame with their self-titled debut album, featuring the smash hits “Stroke You Up” (Platinum, Top 3 Billboard Hot 100) and “Foolin’ Around.”
They followed up with the gold-certified album All Day All Night, led by their iconic #1 R&B hit “G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T.” With smooth harmonies, attitude, and undeniable chemistry, Changing Faces remains a cornerstone of ’90s R&B.
Surface
One of the most successful R&B groups of the late ’80s and early ’90s, Surface delivered hit after hit that crossed seamlessly between R&B and pop charts. Known for classics like “Shower Me With Your Love,” “Closer Than Friends,” “Happy,” and the chart-topping “The First Time,” the group earned multiple #1 R&B singles and a platinum album with 2nd Wave.
Their signature blend of romance, groove, and polished production made Surface a radio staple—and their songs remain slow-jam essentials decades later.
The Force M.D.s
Pioneers of blending doo-wop harmonies with hip-hop beats, The Force M.D.s helped shape the sound of modern R&B. Rising from New York street performances to becoming Tommy Boy Records’ first major act, the group scored enduring hits like “Tender Love,” “Love Is a House,” and “Tears.”
“Tender Love” became a crossover classic, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing the group’s place in R&B history.
Men of Vizion
Emerging from Brooklyn in the mid-’90s, Men of Vizion delivered smooth, harmony-driven R&B reminiscent of the era’s great vocal groups. Their debut album Personal produced fan favorites like “House Keeper” and “Do Thangz,” both of which made waves on the R&B charts.
With polished vocals and heartfelt lyrics, Men of Vizion helped carry the torch of classic male R&B groups into a new generation.
Rude Boys
Discovered and championed by LeVert, the Rude Boys became New Jack Swing standouts in the early ’90s. Their breakout hit “Written All Over Your Face” topped the R&B charts and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, followed by additional #1 R&B hits including “Are You Lonely for Me.”
Blending streetwise swagger with smooth harmonies, the Rude Boys delivered the sound and style that defined the New Jack era.
