10 Fun Things to do in Northwest Indiana this weekend, June 3-6

For the first weekend of June in Northwest Indiana, you can have fun at a triathlon, attend a Harley-Davidson Cruise Night, have fun outdoors, and more! Be sure to wear your mask and social distance at any in-person events!

A one-size-fits-all event, Leon’s Triathlon consists of the usual swimming, biking, and running with two race formats: sprint and Olympic. Individuals of all experiences, abilities, and interests can be a participant or spectator in this weekend’s event.

The event will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and no cars are allowed into the lot before 5 p.m. Learn more here.

This free exhibit began its showcase at the end of January this year and will be completing its showing this weekend on June 5. The artists represented in this exhibit have incredible talent that you won’t want to miss! Find more information on Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ website here.

This event takes place at Hessville Park from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Kid’s will be able to run through the water feature, dance to DJ music including kid’s Zumba, join in on a bicycle rodeo (obstacle course), play games and more! Find more details here.

The hospitals of the Community Healthcare System and the Cancer Resource Centre are taking their local celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day on the road, June 6, to the 49’er Drive-In Theatre. Cancer Survivors Day® is a national celebration of life for those who have survived cancer, the newly diagnosed who are on their journey of survivorship and loved ones who support individuals diagnosed with cancer. The city will be celebrating 20 years of Arts in the Park, celebrating the completion of our new amphitheater expansion project which will be dedicated as the Wolf Plaza, hosting a reunion of the Dr Groovy & the Soul Surgeons band during the celebration hour at 6 p.m., followed by a concert with Billy-Elton, a Billy Joel/Elton John tribute band at 7 p.m.. Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the City of Hammond introduce the coolest club for kids this summer, the Kid’s Run Club. All kids ages 6-12 are invited to register for this program taking place on Thursday’s from June 3rd to July 8th at Martin Luther King Park (Highland St. and Tapper Ave. next to City Hall).
