Franciscan Health, Hammond partner for weekly walking program

Franciscan Health is partnering with the City of Hammond’s Jean Shepherd Community Center to provide a free, new walking club this fall.

The weekly Thursday morning walking program sessions will include health education, a light walk and fun movement and mindfulness activities to help participants stay active and energized.

The walks are scheduled from 9:30-10:30 a.m. each Thursday through Nov. 5 in the adjacent Dowling Park. Participants should meet at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 J.F. Mahoney Dr. in Hammond.

Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. The sessions are planned to take place outdoors and will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

All ages and abilities are welcome. Attendees do not need to be Hammond residents to participate and no pre-registration is required.
