We are thrilled to be embarking on our second year of our Stock Market Program!
This initiative brings financial literacy and investment education to 8th grade students in Northwest Indiana. Students will learn the fundamentals of investing, economic trends, and the power of long-term financial planning, while gaining practical skills that will serve them well into adulthood.
Developed in partnership with financial professionals and educators, the program provides hands-on experience through simulated stock trading and interactive lessons. This year’s mentors include Karen Kennedy of Kennedy Mazda at St. Paul, Jesse Hunt of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union at St. John the Baptist, Dave Miniat of Miniat Family of Companies at Notre Dame and Isabella Kowalczyk of Oak Partners, Inc. at St. Mary Crown Point. Through their guidance, students gain insight into real-world financial scenarios while developing critical thinking and teamwork skills.
The Stock Market Program not only teaches financial literacy but also fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and confidence in making financial decisions. By introducing investment principles at an early age, students build a strong foundation for future financial success and economic empowerment. We are proud to continue equipping students with the knowledge and skills to navigate their financial futures with confidence.
We look forward to expanding our Stock Market Program. If you’re interested in volunteering and supporting students as they learn about investing, please contact Shellie Zaberdac at szaberdac@bigshouldersfund.org for more information.
