The energy was ecstatic at South Bend’s Four Winds Field as country music superstar Tyler Hubbard took to the stage on the evening of August 27. Accompanied by special guests Drew Baldridge and Colt Ford, the trio rocked the house during a night of fantastic music and entertainment for all in attendance.
“I like to listen to Tyler Hubbard. This is my friend’s favorite artist, and this is only her second concert. I’ve been to a few. I’ve never been to one outside like this; it’s nice,” said Concert Attendee Brittany Johnson.
Hubbard, known for his work both as a solo artist and as one-half of renowned duo Florida Georgia Line, put on a showstopper of a performance Wednesday night. Alongside Baldridge and Ford, the audience got to enjoy some of the best in country music.
“I’m looking forward to having a great time,” said Concert Attendee Brent Ortman.
Four Winds Field has long been a local entertainment hotspot in South Bend. From its open and welcoming atmosphere to its location right in the heart of the city, the stadium has been a constant hub packed full of action as the home of Minor League Baseball team the South Bend Cubs. This time, however, the main event traded in a bat and mitt for cowboy boots and a microphone as the first live country concert at the venue since 2018.
Four Winds Field, which has seen a packed house at other recent concerts, seized a prime opportunity when three country stars’ schedules aligned with an open evening during the South Bend Cubs’ 66-home-game season. This rare availability made the show an unmissable event.
“I think it’s exciting they’re bringing country music back to South Bend,” said Ortman.
From its mix of its sports to musical entertainment and everything in between, Wednesday’s concert was a great way to begin wrapping up the summer season. The venue’s versatile lineup has made it a showstopping season, and the concert was the home run needed to top it all off.
“We’re excited to bring country music back to Four Winds Field for the first time since 2018,” said South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart in a press release. “It’s going to be a busy summer because, in addition to this concert, Four Winds Field will be hosting a number of other festivals and events, helping make Downtown South Bend a summer destination for people across the region.”
