Groundbreaking Event Celebrates Future Arnett Construction Facility

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday, September 8 to celebrate the construction of a brand new location for Arnett Roofing and Construction. Larson-Danielson Construction and Facet Architecture helped support the event as the design/build team behind the project that will create a new warehouse and a renovated campus for Arnett Roofing and Construction in Michigan City.
Roger Stark, Arnett Roofing and Construction media technician, is extremely excited about what this development means for the company.
“This is a huge move, and we can’t wait to be closer to our jobs in the community in Michigan City,” Stark said. “A lot of us live in Michigan City, but we’re based out of La Porte, so this groundbreaking is awesome for us.”
For Arnett Roofing and Construction, a new facility that opens a door to better connect with the Michigan City community has been a point of emphasis for a while.
“It’s always great when you have a business that wants to move into Michigan City, and we’re seeing a lot of that happening right now,” said Kurt Gillins, president of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce. “It’s even better that this is a local company. It’s all about redevelopment and revitalization, and having Arnett Roofing and Construction here is a great asset for all of us.”
Robin Witte, lead architect with Facet Architecture, was thrilled that her team was asked to assist with this development. Along with Larson-Danielson, she can’t wait to see how the vision for this project comes to fruition.
“They have the warehouse, which will be a big open space they need in the building,” Witte said. “The front building will be a main office space that will have a break room for everyone, a conference room, and a connecting link between the two buildings. This will give them a lot of different spaces they can use.”
For Arnett, the support of both the Larson-Danielson and Facet Architecture teams are invaluable to this project. Derrick Arnett, owner of Arnett Roofing and Construction, has played a major role in overseeing this development. He’s grateful for how this partnership with both teams will create long-term benefits for Arnett Roofing and Construction and Michigan City as a whole.
“It was super easy for us to team up with Larson-Danielson and Facet Architecture,” Arnett said. “They are teams of professionals who have streamlined the process, making it easier for my wife and I to see our vision and our wants and needs come together. They’ve made it to where we’ve been almost hands off since we signed up from the budget to the visual of what it’s going to be like when it’s done. They’ve exceeded in every aspect, and we’re glad that we teamed up with both of them.”
Additionally, the future location is convenient for Arnett Roofing and Construction to gather building materials needed on the job.
“We can get what we need from Richards Building Supply, which is just down the street,” Stark said. “It’s great because we can get everything delivered so much faster here.”
Whether the new development helps Arnett Roofing and Construction with organizing or supplying new materials, this will create benefits for the company that will make future projects so much better for its customers.
“You need good quality people working on our residents’ homes,” Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch said. “It’s not just for our residents, but our businesses as well. This is a wonderful opportunity.”
Arnett Roofing and Construction cannot thank Larson-Danielson, Facet Architecture, Richards Building Supply, the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, and the entire community enough for sticking by its side and allowing the company to thrive in Indiana. The company covers areas such as Lake County, Fort Wayne, and near the Indianapolis area. This groundbreaking ceremony is another step toward the company satisfying its mission of guaranteed quality, committed excellence, and being a service that the community can trust.
“I appreciate all of the folks who have been here supporting us for the past 30 years,” Arnett said.
