The YMCA of Greater Michiana is inviting the community to tee off for a cause at the 5th Annual YMCA Golf Classic, presented by 1st Source Bank, on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, a championship course known for 400+ acres of tree-lined terrain. Proceeds from the event will benefit LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free 12-week program that helps adult cancer survivors and their families regain strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility while building supportive relationships and a strong sense of community.
The outing will feature an 18-hole, four-person scramble and includes lunch, drinks, giveaways, contest holes, and access to the driving range. Community members, local businesses, and golf enthusiasts are encouraged to register a foursome, become a sponsor, or support the event in other ways.
Last year, 66 survivors graduated from the program, taking important steps toward renewed health and confidence. The YMCA says LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA continues to make a meaningful difference for cancer survivors across the region by combining physical activity, emotional support, and community connection in a safe, welcoming environment.
“It gave me the confidence to keep moving forward,” said Paula Durren, a LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA participant. “It wasn’t just about exercise—it was about being around people who understood what I was going through. That support made all the difference.”
“LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is about helping cancer survivors regain strength, confidence, and a sense of normalcy after treatment,” said Monica Norton, Senior Healthy Living Director at the YMCA of Greater Michiana. “We see firsthand how powerful it is when participants realize what they’re capable of again, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. This program is truly about restoring quality of life.”
