NWI Welcomes Thousands of Athletes and VisitorsFor Major Sporting Events Happening This Week

Northwest Indiana will be buzzing with sports excitement as the region welcomes a series of large youth sporting events from July 15–20, bringing in more than 6,500 athletes and spectators, with an estimated economic impact of $10.5 million.

NSA Northern World Series – July 15–20

The National Softball Association’s Northern World Series kicks off this week, with 145 teams from across the Midwest (ages 8 to 18) competing in Crown Point, Dyer, Schererville, and La Porte. The 4-game guarantee tournament will bring more than 5,000 participants and spectators. Learn more at southshorecva.com/nsa.

Babe Ruth Ohio Valley Regionals – July 17–20

Three regional baseball tournaments from the Babe Ruth League are scheduled to take place. Jerry Ross Park in Crown Point will host the 9U and 12U Ohio Valley Regional Tournament with 20 teams and more than 300 participants, while the Schererville Baseball League will host the 10U Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, welcoming 10 teams and approximately 150 participants.

USSSA Fastpitch Back Home Indiana – July 18–20

The USSSA Fastpitch Back Home Indiana Season Finale hits the field at the Cedar Lake Girls Softball Complex, featuring 10 teams (ages 14U–18U) in a 4-game guarantee qualifier. Around 150 participants are expected to compete.

Illinois YMCA Swimming Championships – July 18–20

Lake Central High School in St. John will host the Illinois YMCA Swimming Long Course Championships, a prestigious inter-association event with an estimated 600 participants over three days of competitive swimming.
