Clay International Academy has been authorized as an IB World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP), marking a significant milestone for the school and South Bend Community School Corporation.
The authorization follows a multi-year process and confirms that Clay International Academy meets the standards required by the International Baccalaureate to deliver a globally recognized, inquiry-based program.
“We’re proud of this milestone and what it represents for our students and families,” said IB Coordinator Tracy Slattery. “The PYP helps students become curious, engaged learners who are prepared to think deeply and understand the world around them.”
The IB Primary Years Programme serves elementary students and emphasizes inquiry, reflection and student ownership of learning. Students take an active role in their education, developing knowledge, conceptual understanding, skills and a global perspective that helps them make a difference in their own lives, their communities and beyond.
“This is a strong accomplishment for Clay International Academy and a credit to the staff who have put in the work to get here,” said Superintendent Mansour Eid. “This is about giving students a more rigorous, well-rounded learning experience and preparing them to think critically, compete and succeed — not just here in South Bend, but anywhere.”
Clay International Academy is also a Candidate School for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and is working toward authorization. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer its programs. Candidate status does not guarantee authorization.
IB World Schools are part of a global network committed to high standards and challenging academics.
