Celebrating Excellence: Larson-Danielson’s Annual Employee Awards

Each year, Larson-Danielson recognizes employees who exemplify our highest standards of professionalism, leadership, and safety. These awards reflect more than individual achievement. They highlight the values that drive our company forward: integrity, quality, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job right. This year’s honorees represent the best of who we are and the culture we continue to build together.

The John Simmons Award for Excellence in Supervision was established in 2006. It honors the legacy of John Simmons, a respected field supervisor who dedicated 14 years to Larson-Danielson. The award celebrates field personnel who demonstrate exceptional Safety, Quality, Ethical Behavior, Customer Service, Productivity, and Team Attitude. These principles defined John’s leadership and set a lasting standard for our field operations.

This year, we are proud to recognize Noah Varnak, Superintendent, as the 2025 John Simmons Award recipient. Noah joined Larson-Danielson in 2015 and brings more than 18 years of construction industry experience to his role. His background spans a wide range of project types, including K–12 schools, higher education facilities, banks, healthcare spaces, and commercial offices. Noah’s leadership, consistency, and commitment to safety and quality make him a standout professional whose work truly reflects the spirit of this award.

The Marilyn Alm Award was created in 2021 to honor Marilyn Alm, who dedicated 35 years to Larson-Danielson as office manager. This award highlights office personnel who demonstrate Exceptional Dedication, Commitment to Improvement, and Outstanding Performance; qualities Marilyn embodied throughout her career.

The 2025 Marilyn Alm Award winner is Lisa Doan, Field Coordinator. Lisa has been a vital part of the L-D team since June 2014. In her role, she supports field operations by managing equipment needs, contractor licenses, and permits. Her ability to keep complex processes running smoothly ensures field teams have what they need to succeed.

Before joining L-D, Lisa spent 22 years in the environmental consulting industry. She worked as a Field Technician, Equipment Operator, Geologist, Project Manager, and Operations Manager. Her depth of technical knowledge and steady leadership make her an exceptional asset to our team.

Celebrating Uncompromising Safety: Quarterly Star Safety Crew

Safety is one of Larson-Danielson’s core values. The Star Safety Crew recognition highlights field teams who demonstrate consistent, proactive safety performance across our job sites. To commend their efforts, Star Safety Crew members receive special gifts marking their achievements.

This year’s honorees include the Star Safety Crew at the Linde/Praxair project, recognized for their commitment to working safely every day. Congratulations to Kevin Perschke, Chris Bates, Kiegan Long, Justin Higgins, Andrew Gericke, Cameron Phy, and Rob Hemenway. Their diligence and focus reflect the standards we expect and the culture we reinforce across all projects.

We also recognized the entire team at the Westville Correctional Center, who have maintained exceptional safety protocols while tackling a large-scale, multi-building project. L-D is leading major trade packages, including concrete, masonry, general trades, and PEMB work. Despite the scope and daily complexity of the project, the team continues to uphold the highest safety expectations.

Finally, congratulations to the Star Safety Crew at the Raclin Murphy Encore Center who completed the stair and wall demolition work connecting the addition to the existing structure at the Raclin Murphy Encore Center. Team members include John Semala, Jeff Baker, Casey Rice, Mike Sellers, Richard Davis, Gage Willis, Gary Bickel, Joey Bickel, Mike Bonds, Jordan Davis, Curtis Littlepage, Nathan Mitchell, Jerry Drake, Alex Tucker, and Eric DeMeyer. Their recognition reflects consistent, disciplined safety practices that protect not only themselves but their teammates and project partners.

These awards represent more than annual recognition. They showcase the character, expertise, and commitment that define Larson-Danielson’s culture. We know that our employees are our most valuable asset.

Their leadership, craftsmanship, and dedication shape the work we deliver and the reputation we uphold. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and grateful for the positive impact they make across every project, every day.
