A Portage Life in the Life: Dan Howard

Dan Howard serves as the production manager at MonoSol. For more than a decade, he has worked at the company in its production division.

“I am responsible for managing and overseeing the entire plant operations for the MonoSol Duneland site, including manufacturing, safety, engineering, maintenance, materials, quality, and talent experience,” said Howard.

Across his decade at MonoSol, production has consistently pushed him in his career. This is mainly due to the continual advances in the space.

“The job never stops challenging me,” he said. “Production is always changing. New technology, new processes, and new goals keep me learning and adapting.”

Throughout Howard’s career, MonoSol has continued to elevate him within the production division all the way to his current role as production manager.

“I’ve been given the opportunity to take on bigger responsibilities, lead through tough situations, and grow as a professional and as a leader,” said Howard.

As he has grown into leadership roles, Howard has had the opportunity to witness his team members and colleagues grow too.

“Watching others grow in their roles and knowing I played a part in that is incredibly rewarding,” he said. “It’s this kind of work that keeps me engaged year after year.”

Howard has lived in Northwest Indiana his entire life. Portage and the surrounding area means a lot to him. Growing up in the area and then raising his own family there is very special for him.

“Northwest Indiana is a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Howard. “I find that people in our region are generous, genuine, and have a desire to be good citizens. Also, how could you not love Lake Michigan and Indiana’s lakeshore?”

Howard’s hobbies tend to involve outdoor activities. He’s also very close with his family and spends much of his free time with them.

“I enjoy spending time with my family, playing cornhole, playing pickleball, and riding my motorcycle,” he said.

His family and providing for them drives so much of what he does.

“My family has been my biggest motivation,” Howard said. “Knowing I have their support makes it easier to stay focused, especially during the demanding days. They’re the reason I put so much pride into what I do.”

In all things, including work, Howard’s faith has consistently guided him. It is central to his life.

“My faith has always guided the way I work and lead,” said. Howard

Through raising a family and working hard in his role as production manager at Monosol, Howard is contributing to the Portage community. His impact is helping drive the local economy and inspire those on his team and in his family.
